Bayer Pakistan Crop Science ushered in the new year by converting its Supply Chain warehouse in Multan to a 45-panel solar system.
This warehouse is the first Supply Chain facility in the Crop Science division across the APAC region to be 100% powered by solar energy. The system can produce up to 20 kWh energy daily, which is sufficient to run the day-to-day operations, with net-metering facility that allows Bayer to become an Independent Power Producer (IPP) to lessen the burden of high electricity cost. It is estimated that this initiative will result in annual energy savings of 5,000 Euros.
This is an important contribution towards Bayer’s sustainability efforts and a reaffirmation that we strive to generate a positive impact for society and the environment. Over the next three months, the company will monitor and evaluate the performance of the solar system, based on which other Supply Chain sites across Pakistan may be converted to solar power as well.
